- Keypad lights up but the gate does not move. The keypad is sending the code, but the receiver or the control board relay is not passing the signal to the operator. The keypad itself may be fine; the failure is usually at the receiver.
- Remotes work, keypad does not. This points to the keypad’s output wiring or the keypad itself, not the receiver. If more than one remote works normally, the board is still healthy.
- The gate opens on its own at odd hours. An access control receiver picking up stray RF from a neighbor’s system or a failing relay on the board. A rolling-code receiver should block this, and when it stops blocking, the receiver is usually on its way out.
- Keypad codes no longer program, or programming resets after a power blip. The memory chip on the keypad or the back-up battery on the control board is failing.
